Cheese Night!

Success! We had a great date night from home. Put Avery to bed a few minutes early and then set up for our date.

1. Sliced cheese for the charcuterie board. Totally thought we already had salami at home to add to the charcuterie, but apparently not. I think the cheese and crackers sufficed though!

2. Grab comfy arm(less) chairs from the living room and pull them into the bedroom. Also grab TV tray for an intimate little table.

3. Grab wine glasses and open wine.

4. Thankfully my husband is a big Cheese Head, so he had the perfect "bowl" for holding our "get to know you better" questions, which I had written on note card the night before and folded up.

5. Have husband find cheesy 80's love ballads playlist on Spotify.

We took turns answering questions, reflecting on our marriage and one another, and most importantly our spiritual walks. It was wonderful and encouraging to have genuine conversation, uninterrupted by television, cell phones, or child. We enjoyed yummy cheese and my husband even drank wine with me. He's definitely not a wine guy, but I was impressed he stepped out of his comfort zone to try something new (little does he know, our next date night will probably also include wine).

After we finished our cheese and questions we moved to the kitchen to make cheese! And I think we did pretty good following the directions.

I'm not going to lie though. The cheese tasted pretty terrible! But it was actually a lot of fun and fairly simple, and we decided, given more time to locate the appropriate ingredients, we could make a better cheese.

I loved the quality time we spent together. It's easy to think you know someone completely after being together for years, but the thing about human beings is that we are constantly evolving as individuals, influenced by all the separate (and shared) experiences we have each day. We need to stop periodically and catch up. Both my husband and I have our own spiritual walks, but we also walk together, so it is always refreshing to reflect on where we are and how we can "spur one another on toward love and good deeds." We decided we would save our "get to know you better questions" and come back to them in a few months.
